Two Men Detained Over Mobile Device Concealed in House of Commons to Reportedly Broadcast Inappropriate Sounds During PMQs

Police have taken into custody two men related to a cellular device found hidden within the House of Commons, which was allegedly designed to emit sex noises during the prime minister’s questions.

Discovery and Investigation

This phone was located close to the frontbench in the course of a routine sweep of the chamber. It is believed it was meant to disrupt the keynote weekly showdown between Keir Starmer and Kemi Badenoch in the autumn month.

An official representative commented, “At 10.25 on Wednesday 3 September, a mobile phone was found during a routine search of the House of Commons chamber.”

Arrests and Allegations

Enquiries suggested that the phone was deliberately placed in a location with the intention of creating interference to proceedings in the house.

  • A man in his 30s was arrested on Friday 5 September on suspected grounds of trying to intentionally cause a disturbance.
  • Another man in his 60s was arrested on Tuesday 30 September on allegations of the identical charge.
  • Both have been released on bail to appear at a future time.

Precautions and Impact

Increased precautions were implemented in the House of Commons after the device was found. Sound-guided visits and escorted visits were called off, and there was reduced access to the main hall.

The House of Lords took the same decision to limit entry to the their debating area “as a precautionary measure.”

Officials added, “Investigations remain ongoing, and we are updating the speaker and clerk up to date with our investigation.”

Seriousness of the Event

This incident is being regarded as grave as it constitutes a major breach of legislative safety. This device was located while hundreds guards based in the parliamentary area were on industrial action over wages and terms.

As a result, the public were prohibited from the parliamentary estate. Labor representatives explained that the strike went ahead due to cutbacks in holiday time, stagnant pay, and an ethnicity pay gap.
