From the very beginning of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has kept viewers on edge with rich lore, a wide array of personalities, and a gripping narrative showcasing angels, fiends, and dark forces expanding in influence within the urban setting.
Warning: Key plot points for the third episode of this adventure lie ahead.
The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced
Episode 3 concluded with a major cliffhanger and presented the premier party of adventurers who will split off from the main group to begin their own adventure, distinct from the remaining groups.
The Soldiers table includes the determined fighter (portrayed by Travis Willingham), the nimble rogue (Laura), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), the cleric (the player), and Kattigan Vale (the actor).
Dividing the Cast
Considering a large ensemble, it was obvious from the start that having everyone at a single group would be impossible.
Hence, the initial installments of this story serve as an Prelude, intertwining the personal journeys before splitting into three separate parties: Fighters, Schemers, and Questers.
The Nature of the Warrior Group
Per Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for participants who enjoy a typically action-packed fight-heavy gameplay experience where diplomatic options are few and far between.
Upon first impression, characters like the hesitant healer the cleric might look unsuited, but the events of the third episode show why these five characters are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.
Reasons to Leave
For one thing, the party knows exactly where to head next after a violent first encounter with The Crow Keepers.
A former ally of Thjazi—whose death initiated the narrative’s action—manipulated the enemy for his own means, invading Thjazi’s hideout, striking the character, and taking all the enchanted items to auction.
The antagonist then settled his obligations and escaped to a fortified location in the remote area, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire pursuing him.
Individual Reasons
Moreover, each character has a specific drive to depart the metropolitan area:
- The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, desires vengeance.
- The adventurer knows the northern area and advises that it is a dangerous place.
- Tyranny and Wicander, having defied his relatives’ demands to execute the fighter and instead rescued him, have no other options.
- Yet, their status as prominent individuals in the influential clan could enable the party access areas they normally couldn’t.
- Furthermore, Teor pledged a life debt to The cleric for his rescue and will now accompany him wherever.
Wanted and Hunted
Finally, all of them are wanted by the powers that rule Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making remaining behind dangerous:
- Thimble and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
- The warrior and The cleric betrayed the powerful family and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
- The target is marked for death by the family.
This means them little choice but to journey toward the remote area in search of Casimir.
What’s Next?
Based on episode three’s post-show segment, we learn that the Soldiers table will be absent the following episode, leaving the rest of the participants to round up the Seekers and Planners parties.
