The 22-year-old tennis player Emma Raducanu concludes the current season and has decided to continue with her coach for 2026.
Raducanu reached the third round in three out of four major tournaments in the current campaign.
Emma Raducanu from Great Britain has pulled out of the last two tournaments of the year due to a health issue she has been fighting for the last week and a half.
The 22-year-old was due to play in tournaments in Tokyo and Hong Kong but has decided to fly home to recover prior to beginning plans for the 2026 season.
Those preparations will involve coach Francisco Roig, as they will keep partnering again next season.
Raducanu had her blood pressure taken in her opening round versus Ann Li in Wuhan last week and retired when losing 6-1 4-1 on an oppressively humid day.
She again required a visit from the doctor at the Ningbo Open this week, where she fell in a three-set match to Chinese wildcard Zhu Lin in round one.
Her movement was far from freely in the third set against Zhu owing to the lower back problem that has affected her on several occasions in 2025.
Such performances meant an encouraging season, in which Raducanu rose into the international top 30 after a long gap for the first time since 2022, concluded with three straight losses.
She held three match points then was defeated by Jessica Pegula in round three in last month's Beijing event.
The player achieved 28 victories during 2025 and advanced to the semis in Washington, but the highlight of her season was at March's Miami Open.
Ranked first in Britain made the last eight of the WTA 1000 event, defeating eighth seed Emma Navarro on the way prior to a loss in three sets to the world number four Pegula.
She worked with Mark Petchey from Miami until Wimbledon, with Roig taking over ahead of the US Open.
The first plan with the former trainer of Nadal was for the remainder of the year but the partnership will continue, with planned training sessions in the coming months.
She mentioned that a three-day test period alongside Roig after Wimbledon was like a "black ops mission" as they aimed to maintain secrecy.
The player was close to defeating top-ranked Aryna Sabalenka at the first competition with Roig in Cincinnati during August.
Roig was also with Raducanu in the New York tournament, where she made the third stage prior to losing to Elena Rybakina, the 2022 Wimbledon winner.
