First-choice Lineup

Dean Henderson Had little to do to make during the opening 45 but then tested from Arbër Hoxha’s bent shot. His sliding challenge against an Albanian attacker showed sharp anticipation. 6/10

Jarell Quansah Challenged by Albania’s biggest threat through Hoxha. Played in a central role to begin with then shifted out wide once Saka entered the fray. Seven

John Stones Advanced up the pitch on the ball, as he has done previously. On occasion lacked urgency on the ball and the experiment was shelved at half-time. 6/10

Dan Burn A constant threat on corners and free-kicks, typically, but may be a replacement to Stones in defense rather than his partner. A careless pass later in the match came close to an opener for the visitors. 6

Nico O’Reilly One more confident showing by the 20-year-old following his initial appearance against another side. A teammate did not capitalize on full advantage of a clever touch over the Albania defence. The left-back spot looks secure so soon. 7/10

The newcomer His maiden beginning for his country. A bit careless on the ball but his inswinging set-pieces were a threat. A handy pace-controller available to the boss to call upon against teams who drop deep. Booked after a reckless challenge. 6

The midfielder Deliveries on corner kicks and set-plays created chances. Was given license to drift down the left flank yet found himself offside upon receiving in front of goal. Awarded a well-earned substitution around the 60-minute point. 6

The star midfielder Operated in a high role down the right and did plenty of defensive duties. Displayed moments of class but scuffed a shot wide. Replaced towards the end for a teammate, a fellow player, following a yellow card. 7/10

The winger Was presented with the team's best chance in the opening period, his strike smartly stopped from the Albanian keeper. As Quansah holding position, it fell to him to offer an outlet out wide yet his deliveries from wide areas varied in quality. Taken off late in the match. 6/10

Harry Kane The match-winner scoring two more strikes at international level. The opener a trademark opportunist's goal while the second an excellent finish with his head following a clever run away from the opposition. At 32, he continues to improve and England are strong contenders next summer with him up top. 8/10

Eberechi Eze Found it tough to make an impact from the left. Had a good opening after being played in by the midfielder however Strakosha denied him. His replacement made much more of an impact in his place. 5
