Liverpool's Star Offers Regret to Squad, Reveals Curtis Jones
Jones has revealed that Mohamed Salah apologised to the group of players after the fallout from his televised remarks.
The Incident
The striker was dropped from a key Champions League match subsequent to making accusations and suggesting his rapport with Arne Slot had soured.
“Mo is his own man and he can say his own stuff,” Jones told Sky Sports. “He said sorry to the group and was like: ‘Should anyone feel slighted, I apologise.’”
The manager has refused to disclose on whether he was apologised to from the player.
Looking Ahead
The player stated that the dressing room atmosphere was unchanged. “He was the exact same Mo, he was smiling and we all treated him normally,” Jones added.
Jones also noted that a teammate fighting for a place is preferable. “It's clear there are specific approaches you can handle situations,” he said. “However, if a player is content to just not start, then I think that’s more of an issue.”
On-Field Response
The team's performance have been impressive in the matches since the initial controversy. He feels the outburst were not designed to cause disruption.
“In moments of frustration, it has consistently come from a place of caring,” the midfielder stated. “That chapter is closed and we’re uniting strongly, playing well and starting to win games.”
