Former Physician Charged with Sexual Assault Charges Involving Thirty-Eight Patients
Legal authorities have stated that a ex- physician has been charged with committing assaults involving 38 individuals who were patients.
The Grave Charges
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with dozens of sexual offences – including acts against minors under the age of thirteen – spanning the period from 2017 to 2021.
One senior CPS official commented, “Our prosecutors have diligently worked to support a thorough and intricate police inquiry, carefully reviewing the available evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
The Investigation
The charges come after what investigators described as a “complex investigation” into alleged sexual offences at medical facilities: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and a facility in Dudley.
The defendant will appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.
Breakdown of Offences
Prosecutors said the 45 charges comprise:
- Fifteen counts of sexual assault.
- Seventeen counts of assault by penetration.
- 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- Three counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- 1 count of attempted penetrative assault.
