US actor Pat Finn, who featured in popular TV shows including Friends, Seinfeld and The Middle, has died aged 60.

The comedic improv actor died at home in Los Angeles this Monday following treatment for cancer since 2022, as reported by news outlets.

"Pat considered no one a stranger - only friends he didn't know yet," his relatives stated in a statement.

They noted that he had "experienced life to the fullest - with zest and passion".

A Notable Television Career

His initial on-screen part was on a show starring George Wendt in 1995, where he portrayed the lead character's sibling.

He also had a recurring role on Murphy Brown from 1995 to 1997.

He appeared as a party host named Joe Mayo in the show Seinfeld in the late 90s, depicting a social organizer who would assign burdensome jobs to his guests.

In the end of the 90s and start of the 2000s, he appeared as a guest star on a variety of hit series, like:

  • "King of Queens"
  • Friends
  • That '70s Show
  • House

Finn was perhaps best known for his portrayal of Bill Norwood in The Middle, appearing throughout eight seasons of the show from 2011 to 2018.

His cinematic roles encompass "It's Complicated" and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups (2012).

Beyond the Screen

Away from his on-screen roles, Finn was an improv performer and worked as a teacher at the Colorado university, where he was an adjunct professor.

He was involved with a six-person improv troupe called Beer Shark Mice.

"Finn taught, supported, and inspired numerous pupils throughout the years and it would be difficult to find a person who has anything negative to say about him," his relatives stated.

Offering condolences, fellow actor Richard Kind noted there was "not a more kind, gentle, or funny, authentic human being you could encounter".

"Perpetually optimistic, assisting others to improve and be funnier. A great dad, a great guy," he posted publicly.

The actor is remembered by his wife Donna, his children, and his parents and siblings.
