Canada's Blue Jays Claim Fall Classic Showdown With defending champion Dodgers
Springer was instrumental for the Houston Astros securing the World Series in the 2017 season.
Toronto's Blue Jays advanced to their first Fall Classic following 1993 by beating the Mariners in the seventh Game 7 of the American League Championship Series.
Behind three runs to one, the star outfielder hit a three-run home run in the seventh frame, propelling the Toronto squad in the majors to a four games to three victory in the series. Next up are the defending champions, who are the reigning title, in the upcoming championship.
"It's incredible for everyone here, the city, the nation," Springer stated, a key player of the Houston Astros team that claimed the 2017 championship. "It's truly an incredible feeling."
The veteran has now hit twenty-three playoff homers, placing him third all-time trailing only Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Jose Altuve (twenty-seven).
"I can't think of another player anywhere that I'd prefer in that moment except for him with his post-season brilliance," remarked Schneider.
Seattle, after leading the series 2-0 and 3-2, remain the sole team yet to make an appearance in a Fall Classic.
Wilson stated "certainly that it's painful" following his side's defeat at their home ballpark, but applauded their work throughout the year.
"They're an exceptional squad. Sadly that we had to come out on the losing end of this game," he remarked.
Toronto's team secured the championship on their two prior appearances in 1992 and 1993, and are set to host the Dodgers in the first game on the upcoming Friday.
