Aerial Images Reveal Iran's Naval Forces and Nuclear Facilities Targeted by Joint US and Israeli Military Action.

A wave of American and Israeli airstrikes has reportedly eliminated or harmed no fewer than 11 warships belonging to Iran since Saturday, new satellite images reveal, with launch facilities and atomic facilities also sustaining hits.

Photographs of the southern Konarak naval military port and the Bandar Abbas port facility, which sits on the Strait of Hormuz and contains the headquarters of the Iran's naval force, reveal plumes of smoke rising from a number of vessels on recent days.

Maritime Assets Sustained Substantial Damage

Among the ships sunk was the IRINS Makran, the country's biggest warship which had functioned as a drone carrier. Orbital photos indicated black smoke pouring from the ship which had been moored at the Bandar Abbas naval base.

Analytical assessments state that at least five vessels at the port were "hit or sunk". Pictures of the southern end of the harbor depict plumes ascending from the IRINS Makran, while another pair of ships appear to be harmed, with one of them clearly on fire.

Over at Konarak, images reveal numerous damaged vessels, with analysis pointing to strikes against six ships. Photos taken on the start of the week also show that several structures at the installation have been demolished.

"For many years the Iranian regime has harassed international shipping," a senior US military official stated. "Today, there is not one Iranian vessel underway in the Arabian Gulf, Hormuz Strait or Gulf of Oman, and we will not stop."

Some vessels reportedly sunk may have been obscured in satellite images by cloud or smoke, or hit in open waters, and have yet to be fully confirmed. Separate reports suggested that a ship from Iran was sinking off the coast of Sri Lanka's waters, prompting a search and rescue mission.

Missile Sites and Atomic Facilities Targeted

Neutralizing Iran's rocket sites and the stopping atomic bomb programs were stated as additional goals of the military strikes. Satellite images also depicted damage at the southerly Khorgu base and northwestern Tabriz facilities, and at the Konarak air air base, where weapons bunkers and fortifications were struck.

Over at the Choqa Balk-e drone UAV facility to the west of the city of Kermanshah, widespread damage was seen to storage buildings, underground facilities and UAV launching apparatus.

Destruction was also noted at a radar site at the Zahedan military airport in eastern Iran, near the border with Afghanistan and Pakistan.

Significantly, the latest wave of strikes have apparently targeted facilities at Natanz – long said to be at the core of the country's atomic program. A global monitoring agency stated that the damaged structures were used for entry to the facility's below-ground enrichment facility and that "no nuclear fallout" was likely.

Broader Consequences and Assessment

Observers suggested that the strikes appeared to have "largely neutralized" the Iranian navy's capability to carry out traditional warfare using its biggest vessels. However, it was emphasised that Iran maintains the ability to launch asymmetric warfare at sea through the use of drones, midget subs and its so-called "shadow fleet" of tankers.

The total extent of the destruction caused to Iran's defense facilities has yet to be fully assessed, with hostilities reportedly continuing. Pictures also shows widespread damage to the command center of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in the city of Tehran.

A significant number of civilian buildings also seem to have been hit in the capital city and throughout the country since the hostilities escalated. Toll estimates from local officials suggest that many hundreds of civilians may have been fatally injured in the attacks.

Amid continuing hostilities, analysis of satellite imagery will continue to document the evolving battlefield picture.
